Drabble for waterbird
Prompt: blinding sunlight
Words: 131
Pairing: (pre-slash) HD

It was done.

Harry stood in the middle of the street and watched as survivors crawled out from under the rubble, as healers made their way to the fallen. Watched as the Aurors Apparated away the remaining Death Eaters.

The dust and fog began clearing, leaving him bathed in sunshine, for the first time in weeks. Harry slowly removed his glasses, gently wiping the grime and sweat in his torn robes, as he looked around, squinting at the figures rushing about.

Someone stopped in front of him, and as he put his glasses back on, he realized he should move, help with the survivors, or something. Draco Malfoy was looking at him, hesitatingly, and Harry watched as he put his hand out.

‘What the hell,’ Harry thought, and grabbed his hand.

Wow. Thank you so much! What a lovely surprise.

I really love this. You set the scene very nicely, and I love the sense of new beginnings, and Harry letting go of the past - and Draco having the guts to approach him first. A very rich 131 words. Thank you again!
